The Storm wind farm in Meer (Hoogstraten) was officially opened this morning by Annemie Turtelboom, Vice Prime Minister of the Flemish Government and Flemish Minister for Finance, Budget and Energy. The wind farm is the highest in the country with a tip height of 200 metres.

Minister Turtelboom officially put the three wind turbines into operation with a symbolic push of a button. This happened in the presence of Cathy Berx, Governor of the Province of Antwerp, Tinne Rombouts, Mayor of Hoogstraten, and Jan Caerts, managing director of Storm.

The wind turbines produce green power for 10,000 families. 160 inhabitants of Hoogstraten and Zundert participate in the wind farm through cooperative Storm CVBA. Dozens of cooperants, and the aldermen of Hoogstraten were present at the inauguration of “their wind farm”.
