Storm and Q8 electric open their first fast-charging station with a McDonald’s restaurant in Heusden-Zolder
Today (12/11/24), another significant milestone is being reached in Heusden-Zolder for sustainable mobility in Belgium. Storm and Q8, together with McDonald’s Belgium, are opening their first fast-charging station with a restaurant. This station is part of a broader network of full-service fast-charging stations that will eventually encompass up to 200 locations.
The station accommodates 12 vehicles that can charge simultaneously with a capacity of up to 400 kW. For drivers, this means that an average electric car can be charged to 80% in just 15 to 20 minutes. While charging, customers can enjoy a McDonald’s meal in the restaurant (158 seats) or on the spacious terrace (44 seats). A large play area is also available for children.
The collaboration between Storm, Q8, and McDonald’s Belgium combines expertise in renewable energy, mobility, and retail and dining experiences to offer customers a unique experience. This concept addresses the need for comfort and convenience during electric vehicle journeys.
Over the past months, four other fast-charging stations have already opened in Paal-Beringen, Kampenhout, Aalter, and Waasmunster. “In 2025, Storm, together with Q8 and McDonald’s, will continue to develop more fast-charging stations with shops and restaurants, including in Stekene. This is how we contribute to accelerating the energy transition in Belgium,” says Bart Van Renterghem, Director of Operations at Storm.
