Sunny open site day at Storm Wind Farm Wachtebeke.
On this gloriously sunny Sunday in September the doors of the Storm wind farm in Wachtebeke were thrown wide open for the general public. Visitors were given a unique chance to experience the impressive site from close by. We are currently constructing two new wind turbines in Wachtebeke. The wind farm has been operational since 2012, but the original turbines are being replaced by two new models of the latest generation.
The day’s highlight was a chance of seeing the wind turbines’ impressive component parts up close. Visitors were invited to admire the huge rotors and get up close and personal with the tower parts, the gondola and drive train. Our experts were on standby to provide a detailed explanation about wind power and the technical aspects of the wind farm’s construction. The weather added sun and fun to an already interesting day, with delicious waffles catering to the hungry ‘site-seers’. The bouncy castle proved especially popular with our younger visitors!
