The last wind turbine at the Storm wind farm in the Port of Ghent will have blades.

Wind turbine 3 gets its blades.

14/11/16

The last wind turbine of the Storm wind farm at the Port of Ghent is now completely constructed.

Normally speaking the rotor of a wind turbine is mounted on the ground, and then lifted into place. On this site however, there was not enough room at two of the three wind turbines to mount the rotor on the ground.

The mounting of the rotor has to be done in the air in a case like this. The blades are lifted one by one to the top and attached to the hub.

The wind farm will be completed in the coming weeks. The wind farm then has to go through a test run. Obviously the wind farm already produces green energy during the test run.

Only after a successful test run will the wind farm be officially considered operational.
