The Storm wind farm, together with ENGIE's wind turbines, were officially inaugurated.

Inauguration ceremony for six Storm and ENGIE wind turbines in Retie!

7/9/22

This afternoon, the Storm wind farm along the E34 motorway in Retie was officially inaugurated by Flemish minister of Energy Zuhal Demir and the Retie city council. The three neighbouring wind turbines constructed by colleague wind farm developer ENGIE were inaugurated as well.

Local residents and Storm co-operators were invited to join the celebrations for the inauguration of the wind farm in their neighbourhood. Visitors could also take a look in the wind turbines’ lower sections and were given some explanation about their operation.

This is the first wind farm in the Retie area. Together, the Storm and ENGIE wind turbines form one big wind farm composed of six wind turbines, each boasting a power output of 4 MW, a 136 m rotor diameter and a 180 m tip height. They generate a combined output of 61,500 MWh of green energy per year, enough to cover the energy consumption of 17,500 households. In terms of CO₂ emissions avoided, this amounts to nearly 20,000 tonnes per year, equivalent to removing 10,000 diesel cars from circulation. The wind turbines were put into operation in the autumn of 2021.
